Sonny Whether

Over the past couple of weeks, I've had the extreme pleasure of meeting many great artists. One such artist is rapper Sonny Whether who I recently had the honor of performing alongside at an event that he had put together with the help of Lauren Green and longtime friend Dame Grease at Yesterdaze Records.
You can tell that Sonny Whether is a man of vision. He greeted me at the show with a smile and open arms and I must say the night was full of surprises. Sonny’s sound and appearance onstage is very driven and unique. You can tell that people love him; so much so, that he had to go onstage multiple times to play for the crowd. His song, “Bang”, was one of the featured songs of that night. This same song is on Sonny’s album; an album that I'm proud to say I own and have played on several occasions. You can tell that Sonny takes time not only with his lyrical approach, but also with the music that he is trying to convey.
At first glance, you would not think that Sonny was a man who would be inspired by classical music and artists such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven, however, as you dig into his album, he leaves you breadcrumbs, carefully placed, to show you that no, he is not just a rapper/artist, he is also a man of vision and great love for multiple genres of music. He likes to build people up and he creates good energy all around him. I can only speculate, but as an artist myself, I can only bet that Sonny Whether will live up to his name and will be a light that we all remember long after today.
