ICP World
Author: Travis Yates
Artists: Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope
It's been quite some time since Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope stepped from the slums of Detroit, Michigan and onto the stages for the world to see. Singing songs of murder, psycho clown’s carnivals and twisted date game shows and shocking critics with lyrics of sex, violence and Faygo soda, but there is, without a doubt, a method to the madness.
With their own two hands and twisted creativity, they created something bigger than both of them put together. The Insane Clown Posse spans across the globe. Millions of followers not only listen to their music but have also adapted a lifestyle all their own. The Juggalo nation, a twisted psycho clown family of brothers and sisters who have been noted to be one of the most loyal fan bases in history, not only attend shows religiously but they also attend press conferences where ICP talks about future endeavors.
The band has gotten such notoriety from the size of their fan base that they recently were deemed a gang every bit as big as the Bloods and Crips. Critics bombarded ICP with judgmental articles, blaming them for the problems with the youth of today. They were even named the most hated band in America at one point, but ICP has never flinched or wavered. They went all the way to the Supreme Court to prove that the Insane Clown Posse and the Juggalos that followed them we're a family brought together by music, not a gang, and in the end, they won their case.
Anyone who does their homework can easily see that ICP is about unity and anyone who listens to their music can tell that their lyrics are just a reflection of a really twisted sense of humor. They do not believe in bullying or racial tension, but instead, believe that you should accept every person for the special kind of crazy that they are; no matter how many screws may be loose. Without a record deal of any kind, they have grown to be one of the most iconic bands in the world and offer no apologies.
I give ICP ten skulls.
