GWAR

For the last 30 years, Gwar, an American shock rock band formed in Richmond, Virginia, has made itself a force to be reckoned with. Originally the humorous love child of two very different entities (Death Piggy and The Slave Pit) and titled "Gwaaarrrgghhlllgh", the band has since undergone a massive transformation and been christened with a new name: Gwar.
The band’s original members consisted of Ben Eubanks (vocals), Dave Brockie(guitar), Steve Douglas (guitar), Chris Bopst (bass guitar), Jim Thomson (drums) and Hunter Jackson and over time, the band eventually solidified into the current lineup: Michael Bishop on vocals, Beefcake the Mighty – bass, Mike Derks – rhythm guitar, background vocals, Brad Roberts – drums, percussion, Bob Gorman - backing vocals, Jamison Land – bass, background vocals, Brent Purgason – lead guitar, background vocals, and Matt Maguire - Backing vocals.
One thing that makes Gwar memorable to the world is the distinctive costumes and elaborate visual themes that they use in all of their albums and live performances. While the essence of the band’s elaborate themes are steeped in mythology, the band members portray themselves as grotesque, mythological warriors, spraying their devoted fans with colored water while they rock their music onstage.
To date, Gwar has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, and numerous singles and they have sold over 820,000 records in the United States. Their debut album, Hell-O, was released in 1988 by Shimmy Disc Records and seven years later, their album Ragnarok took the world by storm with its use of keyboards and amped up vocals.
In a 2014 interview, when asked about the future of Gwar, band member Brad Roberts stated, “You can’t write off Gwar. Gwar is gonna last a thousand years with or without its past or current members".
I give Gwar 10 skulls.
