Grand Prize Winners From Last Year
Author: Travis Yates
Musicians: Believe, No Name, Slaughter
Once in a lifetime, a person gets to experience a truly magnificent band that not only has amazing music, but can also move a crowd, stimulate the senses, and pretty much just rip the roof off, all while doing it in their underwear. This holds true for the Grand Prize Winners From Last Year. Don't let the name fool you. Every time these guys take the stage, it's a win. The combination of rock, rap, hip hop, pop and all around amazing performance makes GPWFLY a beast amongst the music scene, and their onstage antics have left them on the tongues of fans across the globe. Frontman “Believe” loves taking the stage in nothing but his boxers, sunglasses, and a smile. Bassist "No Name" loves to be the center of controversy by covering his entire body in Confederate flags. In his own words, "Just because I’m black, doesn't mean I’m not proud to be from the South." Band member "Slaughter" always gives you a hundred and twenty percent, and has a reputation for being quite the ladies man.
But above all their antics and showmanship, their music always shines through. They've played alongside the likes of Cilo Green and The Roots. They have even graced the pages of Rolling Stone magazine. Their music is a mix like nothing I've ever heard. It has a rap, hip hop, pop bass, with Nirvana sprinkled all through it rather you are listening to the hit “Electric Blue” or “So Fly”, the music is always on point and the choruses can't help but get stuck in your head. I know I'm not alone when I say that I cannot wait for the new GPWFLY album to drop. If you want to see one of the greatest party bands ever, I strongly suggest you go see Grand Prize Winners From Last Year better known as GPWFLY.
I award them 10 out of 10 skulls; a definite must-see.
