Angelo Devinci

Artist: Angelo Devinci
If I could think of one word to describe solo music artist, Angelo Devinci, it would be: chameleon. Angelo Devinci is a musician who is completely comfortable in his craft; his passion clearly shining through in both in his music and in his uniquely eclectic style.
Hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, Angelo Devinci, discovered his love of music when he was a very young child. His family shares his passion for music and when they attended church together; Devinci says that he could feel the effect that the music had on the congregation. Devinci also draws inspiration from artists like Busta Rhymes, Big Daddy Kane, Sugar Hill Gang, Eminem and Tubac. While his unusual sense of style is reflected by his crazy contact lenses and shocking green dreads, his name is what makes Devinci truly memorable. While his musical moniker is Black Haze, his name is unique because it was created from the names of the great Renaissance masters Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Devinci uses his name as an acronym in his song titles when creating his music.
Devinci’s music career was born when a group called Liquor House got him into rapping. While he is a solo artist and emcee who favors rap and hip hop, Devinci’s musical style is eclectic and he draws inspiration from his poetry. His rhymes are a metaphor for his life and he likes to incorporate his art into his music. When asked when his breakout moment in the music industry occurred Devinci says, “When I was onstage, there was a punch line that I did…I went from doing open mic at Alligators, to doing shows at NY and saying hi to haters.” He says this because he was doing a gig at Club Devinci and encountered an artist named Bone Crusher who said he had never heard anything quite like Devinci’s music. Devinci arrived in New York on a Sunday morning and did a show at Annex and it was in this moment that he truly felt like an artist.
Devinci has quite a few new projects in the works. To be more precise, he is planning a series of seven albums. His first album is titled “The Sketch and the Painting” is two chapters with 3 albums each. “The Sketch” is the side with “No Feelingz”, “ADV ep”, and “COTN Pickers”, and “The Painting” is “Hotbox Music” and “Palmetto State of Mind” (along with one more untitled album). His album “No Feelings”, a Halloween themed album, will be a cathartic project for him. He is also collaborating with fellow artist, Travis Yates, on an album titled “Cotn Creatures of the Night”. His final album, “The Friend and the Foe”, is a project that he is doing for himself and he plans to change his name to Black Devinci once this album is released.
Devinci sums up his struggles in the music industry by stating, “I’m from a city where nobody wants to see you bubble…in court they always see your trial, they don’t see your struggle…when you try to get a job, they just see you’re trouble…and want to lock your ass up, when they see you hustle…Haterville.” When asked where he sees himself going in his music career, Devinci says, “I would like to be an international, independent artist. I want to have my own brand so I can do music but also branch out to other endeavors as well.”
I give Angelo Devinci 10 Skulls.
