Episode 3: Snow Falls
Director: Dean White
Cast: Cast: Ginnifer Goodwyn, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parilla, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore, Robert Carlyle
In this third installment of Once Upon a Time, the lines between fantasy and reality are blurred as the love shared between Snow White and Prince Charming draws them together in unexpected ways.
In the fairy tale realm, it is Prince Charming who discovers Snow White in the forest after she steals from him. Although he is already promised to another, Charming discovers that his heart is drawn to Snow White when fate brings them together. Upon capturing her, Charming makes a deal with Snow White to keep her whereabouts secret from the Queen in exchange for her returning the jewels she stole from him. Their love for each other is born when Charming saves her from being killed by the Queen’s guards. Although their love is fragile and their paths initially diverge, in the end, it is their promise to always find each other which allows their love to endure.
In Storybrooke, it is Mary Margaret (who is the Storybrooke version of Snow White) who is reunited with Prince Charming (now named David) after Henry discovers that he is a coma patient at the hospital where Mary Margaret volunteers. When reading their story to him from Henry’s book one night, the bond between them is rekindled and David begins to awaken from his coma. After he vanishes from the hospital, it is Mary Margaret’s kiss that brings him back to life when she finds him in the forest. The irony of David’s predicament is that although the rest of his memories are lost in darkness due to his amnesia, it is Snow White’s face that David remembers.
